Very rare first and only edition. Karl Bogislaus Reichert is famous for his pioneer research on cyclo theory. Together with Ernst Gaupp he was co-architect of the Reichert-Gaupp theory. The present work, in which he investigates the ear of mammels, complex organs of preception, give a detailed knowledge about anatomy and morphology of the ears. The Reichert-Gaupp theory were the background for the studies on the huma ear. – “First description of the visceral arches in vertebrates” (Garrison/Morton 482). At the Universities of Königsberg and Berlin, he was pupil of Baer, Joh.
