A rare and visually striking exhibition catalogue produced for Richard Kriesche’s solo presentation at Forum Stadtpark in 1968, one of the most important artist-run spaces of postwar Austria. Designed in the spirit of 1960s European graphic experimentation, the catalogue features transparent overlays printed with concentric chevron patterns in the four process colors, creating dynamic, shifting compositions when layered over the text pages. Typography in bold sans serif, with portriat of the artist. – This publication exemplifies the merger of catalogue and artwork that was central to the conceptual and media practices of Kriesche, who would go on to represent Austria at the Venice Biennale and Documenta. Surviving examples are scarce, particularly with overlays intact and unfaded.
