‘The true successor to England’s blatanly erotic, ‘decadent’ Augrey Bearsdley was the illustrator Alastair. In his 1925 book illustrations, the elongated, tubular body, draped with jewels is also reminiscent on Erté. (Kery, Art Déco Graphic, p. 235, illustration p.260).
