The Austrian goverment, after the first world war, had no money to finance consulate, so that in the year 1920 Bruno Müller, director of the Böhler-branches in Tokyo and Osaka, asked at the Austrian foreign ministry, if he could be honorary consul of Austria in Japan. He leaved already 7 years in Japan and had good conections to diplomatic and govermental circles. He got the permision to become honorary consul of Austria in Japan, the only official representative of Austria in Japan after ‘World War II’.
