Very rare, grotesk illustrations for E.T.A. Hoffmann’s famous novel ‚Der goldene Topf‘ (the golden pot) by Siegfried \u201cShalom\u201d Sebba (January 14, 1897, in Tilsit \u2013 February 12, 1975, in Hofheim am Taunus) was a German and Israeli painter, sculptor, and set designer who created the most famous painting in modern Israel and spent the final years of his life among the artistic circle of Hanna Bekker vom Rath in Hofheim am Taunus. – In 1936, he emigrated to Palestine, where he earned a living as a set designer at the theater in Tel Aviv, as a portrait photographer, an artisan, and a vegetable grower. While working with copper, he inhaled acid fumes that caused a lung abscess.
